The rules about shin pads in football – What do the latest requirements say?

According to the Football Laws Of The Game 24/25, Section 4:

"Shinguards – these must be made of a suitable material and be of an appropriate size to provide reasonable protection and be covered by the socks. Players are responsible for the size and suitability of their shinguards"

This means that you can play with small shin pads as long as they cover the required area and are made of a material that provides the protection required by the rules. Furthermore, it is now the player's own responsibility to assess this, not the referee. This change gives you more freedom to choose the type of shin pads that suits you best, without fear of being stopped by the referee.
