The rules about shin guards in football – What do the latest requirements say?
According to the Football Act 24/25, Section 4:
" Shin pads, which must be made of suitable material and of a suitable size to provide reasonable protection. They must be completely covered by the socks. It is the players' own responsibility to ensure that their shin pads are of the correct size and fit."
This means that you can play with small shin guards as long as they cover the required area and are made of a material that provides the protection required by the rules. Furthermore, it is now the player's own responsibility to assess this, not the referee. This change gives you more freedom to choose the type of shin guards that suits you best, without fear of being stopped by the referee.
